Awful pressing of such a great album. Why bother if you arent going to be any effort into it. Dont waste your $$$

My copy doesn't have much surface noise but the mastering is quite uninspiring compared to the CD. This sound quality is very meh to the point of making the album almost sound boring (as a result I'm almost never motivated to spin this record and mostly stream it instead). A shame that music of this quality doesn't get the audiophile treatment it deserves.

Just picked this up. Sealed. Does have surface noise but I think it adds to the music. The second record, Side C has no center sticker! Totally blank. Very strange.

I think I lucked out. I was so hesitant to order this due to bad reviews. I have had From A Room Vol. 1 & 2 and they are excellent pressings. So once this dropped to $16 on Amazon I figured - what the hell, and bought. Upon arrival, it is a typical United pressing - it is FILTHY, with overall very poor quality control. The edges on vinyl 1 are sharp enough to cut yourself on. But I played it out of the sleeve as is. It was far from the best sounding vinyl I own, but with some tinkering of my levels I thought it sounded good (like 6/10 good). I will keep it, and I will clean the hell out of it, and I'm sure I'll continue to spin this in the near future.

Edited 7 years agoI finally accepted the challenge... first off, I agree with the general consensus that this was an overall terrible pressing. It's fairly common for labels to skimp on 1st pressings for debut albums. Lucky for us, this one will have many more versions to come! In the meantime, it took me 4 copies of mixing and matching (along with a good cleaning) to come up with a superior double LP. The sonic undertones and tightness of the bass, along with the dynamic range pouring out of Stapleton's vocals, will make your hair stand on end! Beautifully produced album... the kind of country I've been waiting for quite a while.
