friend of mine saw the Saint a few years back at a 100% Electronic(a?)/(con?), got the repress issue signed by the man himself. when he asked what he thought about the scalpers, he said "fuck all of 'em"

If you don't care about the collectible value and just want to have the album on vinyl, do not buy this record. There's a new pressing slated for next year.

One of my all-time favourite records, this pressing does not disappoint. I did notice some pop and crackles on the first tracks of either side, but this could be a failing on my own part. The mastering is fantastic with punchy bass and enchanting highs. There's no clipping that I've been able to notice (that isn't a part of the music itself), but the album isn't horribly quiet. The gaps between tracks are very short though (as if the album itself is one long song) so any noise tends to be dismissable save for the dialogue that appears in Hit Vibes and Outro.
Aesthetically speaking the Cherry Red is gorgeous and very fitting. The simplified triangle and swish from the album art that appear on the labels make me really happy for some reason. It's issuance in a generic sleeve is a bit of a bummer. At the same time, it allows the album to feel like something that shouldn't exist, which makes it presence all the more welcome. In my case, the lack of a dedicated sleeve is great, as it allowed me to get an autographed sleeve on a pleasing beige generic sleeve.
This album has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life, and to have it physically brings me a sense of comfort. That said, the increasingly high asking price is assuredly not worth it for the majority of people. With any luck a repressing will come, but that seems more and more unlikely as time es. -
Edited 7 years agoToo bad it's in a promo sleeve... I'm literally considering printing a legit cover for my copy!
