Notes
180 gram vinyl housed in a gatefold jacket and issued in a white poly lined inner sleeve. The gatefold jacket is sealed with a white bellyband including the following printed text:
Front : Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy
Back : [Atlantic logo] 8122796573
Includes an 11" x 11" thick velum style paper insert with lyrics and band line-up.
Runouts are entirely etched, and where Optimal Media GmbH's faintly inscribed geometric marks appear, these are mirrored:
Variant 2: Side A '51▽', side B '1 11 -'
Variant 3: Side A '3=1', side B '4V1'
Variant 4: Side A '3+X', side B '4 T T'
Variant 5: Side A '2VT', side B '41–'
Variant 6: Side A '3T', side B 'hV1'
Due to the nature of the hand etching, it can sometimes appear that there is a space between the letters and numbers of the Optimal Media GmbH identifiers. However, as per the Optimal Media GmbH label page, their runout scheme "is in fact always without spaces."

I regret purchasing this copy. Sounds lifeless. The drums are loud but they lack dynamics. Side B sounds slightly distorted.

Edited 6 months agoThis is great sounding pressing , highs and bottom end are mixed well . I do not have any older copies to compare , but much better then Jimmy Page remaster of Led Zep 1 ( Cymbals and Bass are muddy on some songs) . The problem with me getting used records on Discogs , is the grading seems very subjective .Records rated as mint are delevered with stratches and noise . So this new out of the box , very quiet pressing is a go for me .

No Quarter is one of the most incredible tracks ever committed to tape to be pressed on vinyl and later transferred and digitally remastered to every format at the speed of light across the cosmos...

I have several versions of this album, including the original UK RL and German RL cuts, as well as the Classic Records version.
It's funny that some people criticize these 2014 remasters partly because they weren't cut from the original tapes. Generally speaking, the 2014 remasters sound good, and I find it amusing to say that this particular version of the album beats all the others I've heard. It's very detailed, with good highs and great punch/attack. -
Excellent all around but STOP PUTTINF THE STICKER ON THE ACTUAL JACKET PUT IT ON THE SHRINK WRAP AGHHHHH

Edited one year agoMusically:this is the result of when all band are MUSICIANS and can write and play MUSIC - ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.
Pressing:on a half decent system it will sound "ok" - on a really good set-up it`s STUNNING!
The vinyl is flat, quiet & noise free for a(modernish)reissue it`s got Dynamics that CAN be dugout by your turntable,so set things up "correctly" and enjoy this WONDERFUL LP for not much of a layout(mine was less than £14 a few years ago from amazon u.k).

Edited 2 years agothis got pegged by reviewers as the black sheep of the zep reissue campaign but i have an american first press and I think this is a very solid alternative. yes, there is a little less warmth and smoothness, but this one rocks very, very hard and the pressing and packaging are excellent. on a decent system, it will sing.

Bought new - great price - sounds clean with a great soundscape - great EQ - digital analog - whatever - it sounds great on my non eq'd system.

Nice pressing! Good detail. Nothing to complain about. Likely a digital master but it sounds really nice. Cant beat the $20 price tag. Jimmy Page did a good job!
