Edited 7 years agoAfter his last album failed miserably, Falco seperated from The Bolland Brothers and decided to go back to his roots. He reached out to his old friend, Robert Ponger, the musical genious behind his first two legendary Albums. The duo decided to start a new project, called "Data De Groove".
With this album, Falco wanted to adopt his old "Kommissar"-ish style for a new generation. Instead of rapping about rebels, drugs or the new wave, he focused on modern-day topics like computers and femdom. He even invented his own cyber language to emphasize the futuristic aspect about his new style. The result: a mixture of modern, timeless synthesizer music, accompanied by a strange but also kind of familiar sounding Falco, with his rap style being faintly reminiscent of the good old "Einzelhaft"-days. It also incidentally contains the only official Jeanny-sequel approved by Falco himself.
Although the team put a lot of effort into the production, fans weren't impressed at all. Like its predecessor, the album was a major flop, leading to the decision of Warner Music Group to cease production entirely. To this day, apart from a digital re-release, the Album remains out of print. If you're lucky to find a well-preserved CD copy (Vinyl is more common), then it will most likely be very expensive.
