Irish-English folk band with punk energy founded by Shane MacGowan under the name Pogue Mahone (Irish for ' Lamb '). Macgowan began his musical life in London's punk band The Nipple Erectors, but returned with The Pogues to his Irish roots. Despite their staunch reputation knew The Pogues a few beautiful albums (Rum Sodomy & The Lash, highlighted from 1985). But the beverage plays Shane MacGowan to affect more and more often. In 1991, the singer from his own band afgetakelde. He not much later The Popes with which he no longer the level of The Pogues.
