The spelling is correct! It is a play on words and does refer to the Quatermass series on tv at the time. The Shadows have a history of twisting names and using plays on words in tune titles; other examples are 'I Wish I could Shimmy Like my Sister Arthur' (should be Kate.), 'Rhythm and Greens' (Blues), 'Outdigo' (Indigo), Alice in Sunderland' (Wonderland) and 'Jungle Jam' (Jim), you get the idea!

After all these years I've just noticed the misspelling of "Quartermaster's" as "Quatermasster's"? Is this a genuine mistake or an allusion to "The Quatermass Experiment"? Knowing The Shadows' sense of humour I suspect the latter.
