Edited 7 years agoGave this a listen today. Really positively surprised. I bought it because the CD is sadly compressed/limited in the louder sections and I was hoping the LP would improve on that. As far as I can trust my ears and the look of the waveform, it has. In "Lifetime of Adventure" the loud part where the drums set in, I am under the perception it has much more space on the vinyl version, where the entire impact of the drums is compressed away on the CD.
The frequency response seems to stop under 20 kHz in most parts (there are exceptions, particularly in brassy loud parts, but I am not experienced enough to tell whether those are just overtones from the needle), not sure why that is. I don't think the CD has that. Nevertheless, it sounds very very good. Nice bass, beautiful mellow mids, crisp highs with about as little sibilance as you can expect from the medium. Surface noise is so low its barely perceptible at all, even in quiet parts. I'm very fond of this record.
Edit: I forgot to mention my record was slightly bent, but it may just be the seller and it didn't impact the sound in any (to me) noticeable way. There were also some scratchy noises in two or three places (literally two or three), but they were non-repetitive and don't bother me much and again, may just be my copy.
