Edited 29 days agoFound a NM used copy here on Discogs. Dead quiet, sounds incredible. It really shines when you get to Battle of Evermore and Stairway to Heaven. Vocals and instrument separation are distinct. Bass is great, different depending on the track. Four Sticks has bass in spades, deep. I wonder if Analogue Productions will ever get a swing at the LZ catalogue? This sets the bar high.

This is one hell of a great sounding record. Stone hard drum snare, loud and ionate voice from Plant, hard crunchy guitars from Page and nice bass by JPJ, although i feel like there could be just a slight touch more bass. One of my favorite records I own now, I’m so thrilled to have bought this at a damn low price! My copy isn’t noisy thankfully.
Never have heard a good sounding recording of “Going to California,” on vinyl- but this record probably tops the bill for me. As for Stairway, this pressing showcases the intimacy of the guitar, the acoustic sounds so real.
I have a UK 1972 repressing to compare, from the K series. However, it carries the early A/3 B/4 PECKO DUCK/PORKY matrix from those early plum pressings. Although that’s a great sounding record, it’s only slightly muddier than the classic reissue. I saw someone describe the Classic as bright, but in my opinion, the tad bit of brightness actually improves the sound. It prevents the record from being muddy like the UK pressing was. I also had a 1975 US pressing that had “AT/GP” and “PECKO DUCK/PORKY” in the deadwax. It was a very clean copy, and it sounded great, but not as good as the Classic
