Every so often I will receive a record that will knock me on my ass and have me thinking about it days later. This is one of those few. The one thing I haven't read a comment about here is the 3D imaging and soundstage. It has to be the best record I own for this. Every song but Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) is completely insane - the music travels through you and around you - has to be experienced (proper speaker placement required, etc.) to believed.
Then there is the midrange. It's at the very tippy top of my collection also. The texture, the holographic imaging again, the tone and completely unveiled.
The only nitpick I have is that I would like to hear Mitch higher in the mix but then it wouldn't sound like it does - which is a masterpiece. I don't know how they (engineers) did it. -
Edited 4 months agoExceptional sound quality , clarity and hot mastering on this a1 , b1 , a1 , b1 , Track UK 1st press . The wide soundstage phasing works wonderfully as well , sounds stunning .
My later UK Track , and early UK polydor pressings , and all my other versions sound mediocre and lame compared to this UK 1st press .
I buying my near mint copy for £220 in 2005 and feeling faint , after listening to it the next morning I thought WOW!!! I knew I scored a bargain . Blows every other version away by some distance . -
I do have a copy "Made in Holland" which is not listed and has Side A, B, C, D instead of 1, 2, 3, 4. And copyrights written in German. Any idea which pressing this is?

I just inherited a collection and this was the crown jewel in borderline NM condition. Sound quality is absolutely exceptional, just explodes off the grooves. This easily beats any other version. It’ll never leave my collection!

The 1st UK pressing is out of this world. The sound is big and full, Jimi's guitar is fire. definitely cut HOT compared to the US, German, etc... pressings. This is the one to own!!

Edited 10 months agoElectric Ladyland is the epic pinnacle of all 'Psychedelic Rock'. Especially the C-side, which though each song is titled individually, it plays as a 3 song suite. "A Rainy Day, Dream Away", "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)", and "Moon, Turn The Tides...Gently Gently Away" take you on a groundbreaking (oceanbreaking) underwater psychedelic journey. With the guitar genius of Hendrix, plus his visionary songwriting talent, this great album hasn't a parallel.

Definitive version, this is the one you need not only for the right Jimi vibe, but also for its saucy cover.....exquisite!
