This is absolutely muddy and glorious. This is what punk SHOULD sound like! Has an almost bootleg quality in the muddiness that adds to it being a Sex Pistols albums. I'm good with it.

Yes this US version is muddy but not awful by any means. It’s similar to the muddiness Black Sabbath albums have. I don’t see it as a defect but a question of preference. I think it works with the brand of rock n roll. I’ll also say this version can still be clear, defined, and gripping with good needles and amps.

the copy I have has matrix BSK-1-3147 JW2 #3 on A-side, and BSK-2-3147 JW2 *2 0 on B-side, same inner sleeve, same B-side label, A-side label is blank, but the cover has Submission printed on it. I'm not sure if this is just a misprint mismatched with a later cover? thank you for any info

Grew up playing this almost every day. It was my only 8-track I bought new, made the wrong choice not getting the original vinyl. But I did get this later. My 8-track broke it was so worn out. I used it to clear my sister and her friends out of the house. It was some wild stuff then. Now sounds like classic rock and roll. Aged way better than I’m sure anyone expected.

Great tunes but this U.S. pressing sounds really muddy. Best to look for U.K. or Japanese early pressings

I may have a 7th runout variant. Mine says JW1 #1 on Side I and JW2 #2 on Side II. Everything else is the same.

Was this the first US pressing? That is interesting, if so, because I didn't buy my copy until late '79 or early 1980. I wouldn't be surprised if a batch from the first pressing sat around in a local distribution warehouse or even in the display bins of my record store because punk records were decidedly unpopular in my area (Chicago) before the 1980s.

Although the disc is in OK shape, my sleeve is pretty battered. For starters, I actually wrote "SUB-MISSION" in the blank space on the back in ballpoint pen. The spine is worn out and nearly illegible. And the inner sleeve is falling apart -- mainly because I cut out one of the large Sex Pistols logos for some reason 36 years ago.

I listening to this record for the first time after bringing it home. It sounded so heavy compared to the first Ramones and Clash LPs, which had brought me to it, and Rotten's vocals went right through me. Still listen frequently--certainly a top 5 album for me.
