don't get me wrong i love this track but let's be honest it is just banging version of terrace's remix of altered states(South Side Terrace) https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/Ron-Trent-Altered-States-Altered-States-The-Remixes/release/816

Truly a timeless pair of tracks in this release - not only did they help shape the early Daft Punk sound, but in-ten-cities has got to be one of the most underrated B side releases. What a release - and to think it came out in '93..

Edited 8 years agoI am very curious the sample/influence of Intensities In-Ten-Cities, If or how much the movie Boyz n the Hood (1991), particularly Ricky's revenge scene towards the end, influenced this. The movie came out in 1991, and the similarities are very strong... works amazingly in this track, great to see cross-cultural influences if it is indeed inspired by this.

Edited 8 years agoNot bad, just unimaginative plodding 4/4 techno floor filler - no real hi-tech funk to be found here.

Greatest techno record ever. Already is such a banger, the fact that this released as early as 1993 takes it to another level. Very futuristic, deep, and addictive sound.

Just unearthed my 12" having gained a record deck for my daughter(!), thanks to the resurgence of vinyl and what struck me most is how interactive vinyl is: It was a pleasure to take the record out of it's sleeve, read the label, clean the vinyl, check the speed, put it on the turntable and listen!
The only let down, not just with this track, was the added repeat synth 'middle eight' which just seemed to be there because the tracks were so long at the time!
Sounded sooo good on vinyl. -
Positive Education is a milestone 12" for non-american Tech House. The hypnotic tempo with rolling hit hat & the melancolic chords flow, belong to Techno as well. The repetitive bass organ (Rhodes ?) & the banjo tuning remind dub, a style often integred in Tech House tracks. Here the dub is track tempo pitched so not halved . The specificity from Slam is on the bassline highly influenced by the scottish Progressive House scene strongly active in 93, especially in Glasgow . There is also this tonic violin sample, but is more hard to determinate the influence 'cause of his large usage in all the House Style. The General structure is build for club with long intro & break. Anyway an unforgettable tracks that always bring joy to both dancers & Djs.
