This album is electronic, but it is also pure alternative, it is in fact the album I point to to those that ask "What is alternative music and what does it sound like?" I always have to play Pedestrian & State of the Nation together because they compliment each other so perfectly. When I first heard this album in 1980, my jaw hit the floor. It was so new, so different to anything I'd ever heard before and it helped usher in the great music that was to come in the 80's, IMO, the best decade along with the 60's ever in modern music!

The word "Genius" is over used and a good part of the time, not warranted. Frank Tovey was a true genius WAY ahead of his time! As mudslut23 notes below, he is still way ahead of his time. Frank died much too young with much more music to produce in him.

I'm 60 now & I still miss him and will for the rest of my life.

I've just ordered the Mute 4.0 orange repress of this due out in October and really looking forward to hearing this artist on vinyl for the very first time. I saw him perform with Depeche in London way, way back in 2001and thought that he was the best act of any band that I had ever seen, totally unique, and he jumped into the crowd :)

I have a STUMM 3 release which is different from all releases listed in the Master. There is no LYN, no MPO, no MVS present in the runout etchings. Mine also has the runout etching on Side B: SoundChime. Seems to be completely different from everything here. Maybe I should create a new release?
