Move D played "Has it come to this?" at Gottwood, Wales, 2014. The whole crowed started singing along. As a french boy who obviously did'nt know this album, it was a pretty great memory. Partying with the Brits is as fun as it gets

Why are copies of this album worth so much money now? I 3 years ago you could get a mint original for £20 easy. Now even after it's been repressed all copies seem to make at least £100!!

The best album I own. I saw him play through the songs live when he headlined the dance tent at Leeds Festival in 2002, which, so Ive heard down the grapevine, was the first time Mike Skinner had played live in his life. I'd read about him in NME but never heard any of the tunes and he started off with 'Turn The Page' and I was completely drawn in. The best live set I've ever seen by a country mile. When he was at the top of his game, just after this album was released, he was untouchable IMO

A seminal classic. I first hearing this, leaning out of a window on a grey, rainy day with a smoke. It absolutely blew me away. I already had the 1st single [Has It Come To This] and yet I wasn't expecting a wall-to-wall classic.
This was the album that I wish I'd made - Skinner encapsulated the zeitgeist of the disenfranchised with a unique flow and beat-set. I've been 'hooked on Streets' ever since. -
I loved this album and cudnt stop listening 2 it.I love still pulling it out now and again.I love Mike Skinners str8 2 da piont lyrics and his production on this is second 2 none. His other albums are quiet Good. But this Album was never topped. It just one of them albums that was off its time and still is Timeless 2day luv it. 5/5

Edited 18 years agoAs legend goes...Mike Skinner apparently nicked most of the beats from some other Garage duo to create this record. So goes music. Master steals from protege as protege steals from other. This has been going on for ages. In any regard...this was one of the best 'pop' records of 2002. Combinging UK garage technique with lager lad lyrics and sharp wit and flow, Mike Skinner is an MC to be reckoned with. He puts his pulse on the heartbeat of the UK and counts out that pattern as a loop for a track. He got the pulse and timing right to capture a hundred thousand would be newbee ravers as well as the old schoolers too. He translated that 'get away from it all weekend' with tracks that made you feel pissed or off yer face on fungus in the 'Dam. Skinner also made softer tracks about young love and regret that balanced all the substance abuse with a little humility. This makes it a pop record to me and great at the same time... and pop isn't necessarily a bad word. In all regards, stolen beats or not, this is a pretty great record.

Edited 19 years agoAlot of people are skeptical of Mike Skinner because of his delivery. In all actuality, the guy has more style and substance than any 10 MCs you can think of in mainsteam or underground hiphop today. On this album, he's brilliantly witty, his beats are diverse and interesting, and his subject matter is far from the norm in hiphop. Absolutely a classic release!
