I purchased this one after seeing Mike Esposito’s video, in which he compared almost 20-30 DSOTM vinyls and he felt that this one with A3B3 in the deadwax as the second best version of this album ever. I have a 2016 pressing by Bernie Grundman to compare this one to, so here goes:
1. Frankly, this one is just sensational! I bought it as a VG+ but after a few ultra sound cleaning, it sounds NM or better. Larger soundstage, more base, more punch, larger and better in everything
2. The 2016 version seems to have its treble tweaked up a bit artificially. The 2016 is also a fantastic version but after I heard this, I find it impossible to listen to the 2016 version again.
3. When the guitar came on in time after the alarm clock sound, If you are an emotional person, you will probably cry!
Please get this one - I barely say this on my other reviews! -
Just got a strong VG+ copy of this, tiny bit of surface noise here and there on the quieter ages - but the music on here is top class... makes you love the album all over again even if you have heard it a million times like most of us have , really worth picking up if you can find a nice one for a decent price

Hi all, what about A10, B9 matrix? Seeing a lot of these for sale claiming to be 5th press. Anyone can shed some light?

Edited 3 years agoHi everyone. I publish this question (and I hope it will become a comment) in all the pages of DSOTM, from the 2th to the 7th issue, because I have to remove a doubt. It's a question I haven't found an answer to on Google. Are the posters and stickers inserts identical to the first UK edition or does something change? I have the first edition A2 / B2 (solid light blue prism), but I need to complete it with posters and stickers, so I was thinking of getting them from the reissue, which are cheaper. It's possible?

So my brother in law gave me the remains of his record collection and I'm very excited to see an early DSOTM in the pile. I'm slightly put off by the frankly hideous cover which some prat has put a ticker tape sticker on the top corner, but hey I buy to play so I open it up and its not a solid triangle (I'm not that lucky) but was very pleased to see it was a very very tidy A3/B3. I could happily throw the sleeve in the bin but the vinyl plays beautifully, dynamic and sharp with much better bass than my A5/B5, 30th Anniversary or 2016 copies I've previously owned. If you can listen to one of these before you buy you might just save yourself a ton of money. Check out the comparison on The "In" Groove Youtube channel.
