Any comments on the pressing quality on this one? Luckily I already like the music, so that’s not a concern…

Comes with generic paper sleeve without antistatic protection. A shame!

I bought the album in April '87 but have never really been able to get into it, I have tried and struggled over the years, the sound is just too "grown up"/overly serious in a middle of the road kind of way [pun intended].

A problem is that there is too much material included, over 50 minutes. "Bullet the blue sky" is just a track that needs to be binned as far as I'm concerned (..outside is america... [cringe] ) and "Trip through your wires" is hardly worth being put on a b-side of a single. Plus "One Tree Hill" is just too sweet, in the wrong way.

My preferred track listing, where tracks flow better together, a sort of upbeat A-side, and a chill-out B-side:

        A: Where The Streets Have No Name/In God's Country/Red Hill Mining Town/Exit

        B: I Still Haven't Found.../With Or Without You/Running To Stand Still/Mothers Of The Disappeared

"Where The Streets Have No Name" and "In God's Country" were made to be sequenced together, IGC takes the momentum built by WTSHNN to the next level.

"Running To Stand Still" and "Mothers Of The Disappeared" are also particularly well suited to be sequenced together as they are almost a two part track from the get go IMO.

By the way, I hadn't noticed before but the arrangement of Exit is almost a carbon copy of Echo & The Bunnymen's Over The Wall...

Sure, the album cemented U2 as the biggest band in the world featuring the massively played 'With Or Without You', 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' and 'Where the Streets Have No Name' but the rest of the album is worth uncovering. The Zeppelin-esque 'Bullet The Blue Sky' and the wickedly haunting 'Red Hill Mining Town' and the Joshua tree inspired 'In God's Country' make this album the most celebrated album of the eighties. Haters be a hating, there's no denying Daniel Lanois took the band into the stratosphere and all it took was a trip to California.
