It’s interesting Siouxsie and the Banshees didn't generally explore the possibilities of the 12" *. I guess they preferred to work at making each song perfect in its album form - each a resolute testament.
Voodoo dolly etc shows they didn’t shy away from longer tracks. Also, I seeing Creatures at the Garage. They did one piece which was drastically changed using a glockenspiel or something – I searched and searched for it afterwards, but never found it (and now it’s so long ago I can’t ).
So that said, Slowdive is kind of exceptional as a 12” and worth having. (It makes me wonder what would have happened if they played around with tracks such as Monitor . . . ).
* There are 12”s such as Dear Prudence (I don’t think this is altered) and Israel (yes extended, not many released, hard to get). From 1984 onward, with Dazzle, Cities in Dust et cetera, they did explore a bit.
