A very intimate album. Got lots of attention because of 'Take me Home Country Roads' and early pressings had a good deal of distortion on them. 'My Sweet Lady' and 'Sunshine on My Shoulders' became Denver signatures although why they had to add the strings to this version on Greatest Hits beats me... Loved 'Gospel Changes' and 'Around and Around' when it came out and 'The Box' is either profound or cloying depending on your perspective.

OK, of course i'm wrong about no trace. read the description under his greatest hits album here on DISCOGS:

OK, i'm a dub techno man, but i'm also 50 years old and i sadly cannot believe that i can find no trace anywhere that the original version of "sunshine on my shoulders" is different from all the later versions. strings, oboes, etc. were added, which of course completely ruined the melancholy beauty of the original. has anyone else confirmed or noticed this?
