Edited 19 years agoThis was in fact the first ever vinyl i purchased (way back in the summer of 1970, when this was released): i am proud to mention this, since it was a good choice. I wasn't even interested in Rock or any other music back then. (This came later with Deep Purple, BFck Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and soon Psychedelic Music by Pink Floyd, Amon Düül II, Kraftwerk etc.) I ed an older friend to a record shop. He bought a record, so i did just the same... I didn't own this very album for a long time, but i still most of the songs from Cosmos Factory . The Best are : the hunting "Run Through The jungle", tghe melodic "Looking Through My Backdoor" and "Up Around The Bend". The Marvin Gaye Cover "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and the Ballad "Have you Ever Seen The Rain?" are all standout tracks that stood the test of time astonishing well. CCR had a remarkable and easy recognizable sound, that just hit the spot perfectly. The Blues of the Bayous, a bit Country-swing , a shot of Soul and great guitar work. Beach Boy influnced harmony vocals and the outstanding potential of John Fogerty both as a songwriter and a singer make them a musician's Band.
They were too "normal" for the craze of Hippie Culture and psychedelic Far Out experimentation on one hand and the excsessive loud Hard Rock on the other.
I loved the cover with the strange activities of the group on the picture and the title of the album "Cosmos Factory" (the moon landing took place the summer before). i knew some of the songs from the radio. I loved the melodic "Up Around The Bend" the most - a bit like another favourite song of mine back then Frijid Pink's smash "Hitchin' A Ride" .
