Massive track that pretty much summed up 93. The original was next level, this version of You Got Me Burnin' is something else. The breakdown is a euphoric moment at any party. Pure killer, no filler

The alarm type sample on this and the original is from Quincy Jones' Ironside theme. I'm not sure what instrument it is, anyone know? I'd assume keyboards.

The drop at 2:40 on Burnin' Up is mind-blowing. Used to hear this everywhere, Bagleys, Laserdrome, AWOL, Labrynth. Absolute killer. Maybe Nookie's finest work, and definitely Ray Keith's.

You Got Me Burnin' (Ray Keith & Nookie Remix)

This just bottles up 1993 in one tune. What a FUCKING TUNE it is too. The break on this is on another level. Anyone who heard this out back in the day will agree, it's up there with the best of the best. A bargain price for what is an absolute banger.

Apex Nookie here. Absolutely top class re-work by Keith and Nookie on Burnin'. I was DJing a house party in the early 90s for a mate of a mate and had lugged big-ass speakers and all my decks etc there only for a couple of nobbers to have the cheek to ask me if they could DJ. I was a bit bored to be honest so said crack on. Then I realised that they only had 3 records between them (although Found Love was one of them, so points for that). I was frankly annoyed so after politely asking them to fuck off, picked this out the box and started it off with it pitched down (decks had already been tweaked beyond +/- 8 to 16) and I had them and their house mates loving it til around the one min mark where I had been gradually pitching it up to max pitch. Boom, cleared the floor completely, other than for poppers John who didn't stop all night. Job done.

Worth it alone for the nightmare remix . . .

Another top quality EP from Gavin Cheung here. This time all reworkings from his previous two Moving Shadow releases.

Starting off with his remix collaboration with Ray Keith, 'You Got Me Burning' gets a deep and dark jungle makeover which stays faithful to the original, but adds an awesome stop-start amen break and moodier presence. The melancholy piano section in the track's climax adds to the epicness of the remix and makes this an essential purchase alone.

'Mr Logic' from the 'Vol 3 EP' stays very true to the original and gives it a minimal reworking. Just enough to update it a tad. 'The Dreamer' gets a darkside overhaul with added vocal samples from Carlton's 'Do You Dream' ("when you hold me do you dream?") and a ruff amen break as opposed to the original mix's techno beat. Ominous synth pads seal the tracks trip to the dark side completely.

An absolutely essential purchase and a perfect example of Gavin Cheung/Nookie/Cloud 9's musical talent in the field of hardcore/jungle/drum & bass.
