I added up the durations of all the versions of Dark & Long, and found that it totals to 100 minutes (or an 1h and 40 minutes) of content, more than that on the 'dubnobass...' album. If you wanted to cram it all onto one disc, you'd need to remove either '215 Miles' or 'Thing in a Book'. Tough choice.

As well as this, tracks on the 'Spikee', 'Mmm... Skyscraper', 'Rez', 'Cowgirl' and 'The Hump' singles add up to another whole album's worth of music, meaning just listening to the album is just scratching the surface of the B-sides and alternate versions. Underworld clearly wants you to not just buy the album, but dig around for everything else.

Wasted opportunity - should have included 215 Miles on this new 12" instead of two damn versions of Dark Train.

For those that love the track 'Dark & Long (Dark Train)' you should check out the 3rd release on Darren Emerson's own Underwater Records label by Shortfiction - 'Red Star' (https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/Shortfiction-Red-Star/release/93705) from 1995. It uses the same chord sequence, albeit more subtly, and is a great EP in its own right

"Most 'Ospitable" is a pleasant, short ambient tune that incorporates some elements from Dark Train. "215 Miles" goes the opposite direction, stretching out Dark Train to 20 minutes. While it eventually reaches an excellent conclusion, it could be much improved by cutting out some of the dull middle section.

In short, this release is strictly for completists.
