In 1967, the Moscow Experimental Studio of Electronic Music was founded. It was based on the synthesizer "ANS". At the same time, very young composers came to this studio: Alfred Schnittke, Edison Denisov, Sophia Gubaidulina, Eduard Artemyev, Oleg Buloshkin. By 1971, a unique record was created - each of these composers presented his work for the synthesizer "ANS". And it should be noted that for A.Shnitke and S.Gubaydulina this was the first and only experience of addressing electronic music. This record in 1990 was published by the Melodia company on a gramophone record called "Musical Offering". -
Historic album documenting some really creative pioneering music performed using the monstrous ANS synthesizer. This has the earliest significant works of well-known composer Eduard Artemiev and his later collaborators. It also contains the only electronic composition by famed avant-garde composer Alfred Schnittke.
The original LP was scheduled for release in 1970, but never happened. It took 20 years, under a more open minded regime, for it to finally see the light as an LP release, and is now recognised as the prime essential historical LP of Russian electronic music.
