Edited 8 months agoYeah Richie Starfingers - you got it right!! My copy is exactly as you described - pretty package, sibilance issues, surface noise i.e. pops and crackles. Probably the cheap vinyl. Can't recommend this one, as others have nice packaging as well...
(could be the batch - my set-up is tweaked. if there's sibilance it's the vinyl...)

I have mixed feelings about this release. The packaging is really , the coloured vinyl is really cool and solid 180g heavyweight. The audio has some imperfections such as the sibilance on You’ve Got Her In Your Pocket, and some quite prominent clicks and pops on LIttle Acorns, and in some other quieter sections of the record. But overall, my copy is pretty solid, and still an enjoyable listen of one of the all time great albums. Be interested to see how many copies was pressed of this ‘limited run’…

Great sounding pressing, flat and no relevant clicks and pops, I found no trace of sibilance. In my experience sibilance depends more of the equipment than anything else, cartridge/amplifier. Tested same record in different equipment and it can be another world in that department

Edited one year agoI have this copy for a while and just acquired 2003 promo copy, right away did AB comparison between two pressing. My brief impression:
1) 2023 (this copy) has higher gain and slight wilder sound stage. Some tracks almost made 2003 copy sound like mono.
2) 2023 copy has boosted treble and bass. While many might prefer “cleaner sounding” of original 2003 mastering, but in my system I actually don’t mind the extra dose of dynamic.
3) there is infamous sibilance on "You've Got Her In Your Pocket" on side two of this 2023 copy. The 2003 promo is completely free from this problem BUT at the expense of lacking top end extension, and sounding almost mono.
So all in all, you get something and lost something take your pills but for the price of available new vinyl these days I think this is very good value (colour vinyls are nice to look at too). I will certainly keep both copies. -
I had to give mine a bath as my first attempt at side A was very poppy and clicky. After the bath it sounds fantastic. Sibilance is very strong though. 4/5

For the people reading these reviews and are nervous about purchasing a copy I've the Japanese pressing and it's absolutely stunning. No simbalance, tics or skips. It's loud but not too loud that it loses detail.

Edited one year agoI got a great copy - perfectly flat, super quiet, big sound. This record looks amazing and the music sounds as dynamic as it should. Hands down best way and only way to listen to this album.
