Don't be put off because it's not the Goa music you think you know, this compilation is stellar.
Decent vinyl too. Recommended. -
Worth getting the LP just for the transporting insights given by Ray Castle. But no, this compilation is also full of gems and wonderfully pressed. Arghhhh I wish I was born during this era and could have experienced this.
Recommended lecture link to this release: Global Tribe by Graham St John, which gives a great perspective on how the sound of Goa has evolved -

Edited 8 months agoCan someone explain the term Goa in the title? I don't understand that reference to the D side tracks.

Stunning collection of tunes. Sounds great, gatefold presentation w/ poster, and liner notes. Dead. Silent.

Edited one year agoLike the Italo Outsider comp on sister label Thank You - essential. That rattling Peyote cut genuinely takes you there…..

Worth the price of ission for the Ghostdance track alone, which makes every hair on my body stand up when I needle drop it. But the whole thing is quite a trip. Wonderful, stunning compilation -- brilliantly curated, awesome write-up / liner notes on the back. And the sound quality is excellent, as usual from SM.

Edited 2 years agoTo those who enjoyed reading LOTR accompanied by Bo Hansson's LP: I advice anyone to read Ray Castle's "Moon Juice Stomper" accompanied by this LP, along with charas, chillum, chai and nag champa. Multisensory...
Apart from that. Excellent track selection, and the fact that such a compilation finally arrived outside of the Psy-scene: I applaud Sound Metaphors for multiple reasons!
