bought this a few days ago and I guess it was badly stored as corners are torn, vinyls have a few scratches here and there but didnt affect their playing, though imo my 1982 copy of TNOTB album is much better in sound

Just bought this the other day for a bargain. All three records are full of scuffs and scratches, fortunately not audible and the records play great. Number Of the Beast doesn't sound as bad as I expected and there's a nice amount of punch. Beast over Hammersmith sounds very flat. However it's nice to own this one considering I bought it half the price it goes for.

This review pertains to the Beast Over Hammersmith 2xLP. Performance is outstanding both of the NOTB tunes but also the Paul di'Anno era songs. I appreciate this was mastered at Bernie Grundman's and lacquer cut by Chris Belman but, to me, the sound quality is poor. Very muddy and muffled and that's after I put it through my vacuum RCM. Vinyl is clean though - no pops or ticks. Am I glad I bought this? Not really. Tidal streaming of this performance is good enough. I thought I'd offer this alternative viewpoint to the positive reviews below. BTW, my system is not the limiting factor here. Anyway, that's my $0.02.

This really is a nice package. Although I would have preferred a heavier card wallet. The sound is very good indeed. Compared to the original it's pretty much spot-on. Not quite as lively but still very nice and well worth the price. Recommend.

            I am terribly disappointed.
I bought an expensive anniversary edition for the collection, but received garbage (((
The vinyl was dirty and worn. Thorough washing with a vacuum cleaner did not help much. The recording is very "sandy", strong cyclical noises.
I bought it sealed, unpacked it myself.
This is some spit in the soul). AND
yes, the edition is great, beautiful printing, heavy vinyl, interesting live recording...

Awesome pressing! Great dynamics and overall quality! Zero clips or other imperfections! Also it’s a very unique edition! Total Eclipse should be on this album always as it’s way better than Gangland!

My copy of Number of the Beast for this triple album (w/ Beast over Hammersmith) has plain pale blue centre lables. strange.

I played the live show for the first time tonight on the 41st anniversary of the show. This is about as good as Iron Maiden can play and the pressing sounds top flight. FYI, Bruce says during the lead in to 'Total Eclipse' that it wouldn't fit on the LP so it was dropped. I happen to have a 1st Japanese edition of 'Number Of The Beast' and guess what? It has Gangland and Total Eclipse (and it has been the best sounding press I've heard). RIP Clive Burr

To whom who wonders. The overall sound of this TNOTB and the 2014/2015-one. They probably used the exact same mastering files, but this lacquer is cut by Chris Bellman, who is a wizard. If you look at the 2015 pressing and this, you will see that the size of the tracks is different. Seems like Chris Bellman avoided IGD for those who have poorer stylues'/needles. To me, the 2015 pressing sounds better. The 2015 one is more close to the original 80s pressing. Bellman ran the safe route on this one, so each song is equal in level, opposed to the 2015 and the 80's originals. The 80's original has uneven level, starting each side with lots of punch and larger rills, then it gets narrower (read: lower volume - smaller waveform) towards the centre (inner grooves). So on the originals, The Prisoner and Hallowed is quite silent compared to the others. Nothing wrong with this, but this was Martin Birch's way to get most out of each side.
I won't agree with those who moans about Gangland, and/or wanted both songs on the record. This will only lead to less quality.
For those who moans, either buy a 2015 pressing or an original or 80's reissues (those sound great).
