Sounds good overall but there's a lot of cracking not too noticeable but in the quieter parts it does show up

Really regret not returning this to Amazon.
The remix itself is fantastic, the vinyl however is one of the lowest quality pressings I have ever purchased. Lots of pops on both sides, even after cleaning. I then discovered lots of others experiencing this so didnt bother trying to get a replacement. Should of just got a refund.
Now there is a 2025 repress, will that be any better? Such a shame considering the sublime remix. -
This is a sensational pressing! Sounds very calm and clear compared to the original master.
The songs sound 3D and have audible layers to them. I was absolutely amazed when I first heard the dog barking, which absolutely sounded real and very far away. Also the pig in Pigs Three Different Ones fills the space and the guitars slide across your face.
Although the original sounds rough and visceral, this new pressing makes it an audiophile gem.
Record Industry did a great job on the vinyl. Dead silent and centred.
And last but not least, the pictures in the included booklet are stunning. It amazes me that this quality can be achieved for this price.
Music: 9/10

Firstly, when i received this sealed, on first play, there was lots of clicks... after a proper clean and brushing, and a couple of play throughs, all the noise is gone. WTF is this carry on on new pressings, I had a few modern releases with this problem, seems the pressing process is ok, and subsequent treatment introduces micro particles into the grooves, poor quality control. Mine is variant 6.
Anyway, when the record is clean, the sound of this remix is amazing, though had to reduce bass slightly. This is my favorite floyd album, I adore this record.. And this version is quite amazing...
I just shouldn't have to do so much work to make it clean. -
Have never heard this record sound so good. The OG was muddy and flat sounding but it's all we knew. This remaster brings out all the beauty of these sessions without overdoing it. I love it when remasters do what they're supposed to do. Just stand as an improvement over the original. This one succeeds in spades!

This remix allows me to hear this album at sonic parity with the other three. Before this, ANIMALS was a brilliant whimsical outlier in a six-year run of genius from ‘73 to ‘79. But now, it’s no longer an outlier. It stands alongside the other three and now allows the question to be seriously considered: Is ANIMALS Floyd’s greatest work? It’s a brilliant and beloved piece of work. Grateful for this remix by Guthrie, mastering by Grundman, and [thankfully, corrected] pressing by my favorite Europe-based plant.

This remix is amazing. I'm blown away with how it sounds, and normally I am quite oblivious to these things but this may be the best sounding record I own.

I don't really get the praise heaped on to this release, I received the variant 6 issue so no problem with pops and cracks and played it three times back to back to get a feel for it, then i put on my 1980s Harry Moss mastered copy and within minutes of Dogs starting there was no contest, the 80s press is way more enjoyable to listen to. Warmer, richer, fuller sounding and when that guitar kicks in so much more dynamic. 2018 went back to Amazon, 1980s stayed in my collection.

Just opened a mint copy and listening to the record. Intresting remix, but bad pressing, LOTS of pops here and there. This record sounds just like it's been handled with dirty hands...
-
Yes, the remix is stunning. Yes, this is their best album! And sadly yes, on mine there are some very loud pops. Shit happens
