Why is the track listing divided into Side 1/2 ?
Lots of great songs - just not for Phil.
A lame album that also sounds awful.
Only good for the skip. -
The approach to these recordings really contradicts what one might expect. On most of this Phil goes full northern soul, and the recordings are as if he recorded these in the 60's. The biggest flaw is that there are so many songs that the project is hard to take in all at once. This could have easily been split into two volumes. The DVD version is the way to go, you get all 29 studio recordings, sans the live version of "My Girl" found on the 7" box set.
