There are a lot of compilations out there competing for your a-Ha dollars and attention. If you buy only one, this is it. All the singles from "Take On Me" to the exclusive, and at the time swan song, "Butterfly Butterfly" - this is an extraordinary collection. The sound quality is first rate and it includes as objective and first class a song selection as you are likely to ever be offered. Get it. -
It's incredible, and excitingly impressive that it's been 25 years since a-ha took the world by storm with "Take On Me", thanks to the now-legendary music video. The fact that it's still being played and covered today is just a proof of how much power the song has. And it's also the perfect start for 25, a collection of all of a-ha's singles from their debut in 1985 until now. All of the classics and more recent hits are here, including some album tracks and special remixes and edits, though I think "Bandstand" from "Foot Of The Mountain" could've been included as it's a really underestimated song in my opinion. The cover design is very cool and the booklet contains an interesting biography on the band, relevant to the release. If this doesn't get you to start collecting a-ha albums, nothing will. Though it's with a bit of melancholy I listen to this compilation, knowing a-ha will never release a hit again, it's still an excellent retrospective collection indeed!
