Edited 7 months agoMy copy with matrix numbers variant 1 only comes with crossed triangle instead crossed box. Sounds very loud, massive, with hammerlike bass. Unfortunately band used The Rolling Stones mobile studio so LZ III recorded not as good as previous two albums, a bit edgy, but still sounds very fine, in the English manner. I think that there's no need to wait a lot of dynamics from acoustic/folk inspired thing and no reason to compare it with hard-rock/groovy-bluesy LZ II/Zoso. Also my copy in stunning like new condition, cover still in shrink with hypesticker so I made good deal with it

I don't have anything to compare it to, but this pressing leaves some to be desired.
I don't have another press of III to compare it to, but comparing it to others in the Zeppelin catalog I have, this press definitely doesn't have the punch and dynamics of the Piros Zeppelin II or the Pecko Duck Zeppelin IV.
Might grab another version if I come across it and compare, because I don't find the same stark difference when listening to the three albums via streaming, so I think it's the press vs. the recording. -
No idea what some of the other comments are complaining about. This is an extremely dynamic pressing and rocks the house! Page’s acoustic guitar sounds like he’s playing in your room.

Enjoying the comments here. I don't know enough to determine differences in pressings/masterings for this release but it's been the experience of my ears that Immigrant Song was recorded differently and sounds more compressed than the bulk of the album.
Song-wise, I've always enjoyed it. It's a lot more acoustic and, for lack of a better term, laid back than its predecessor. It's a favorite for me.
The Paul Richmond master seems prevalent though I have a 1980 Sam Feldman cut which sounds fine to me despite the couple youthful scratches I inflicted... -
Edited 3 years agoCan we all just agree that 3<1<4<2?
Not their finest work. On this pressing, even the standout track, "Immigrant Song" sounds anemic and compressed. Do all releases suffer from the same uneven signal level from track to track? The only saving grace here is the fun spinning pinwheel in the sleeve, which made me for a moment forget I paid $35 for this copy.
