Can anybody shed any light on why this album sounds so similar to Dre's Chronic album? I can't seem to find any links on the credits.

This LP highlights just why todays hip-hop sucks so bad. There's no message, no funk, no bounce, no creativity.
This LP is a pure summer LP, the way each track is constructed is very clever, with some good samples worked with some very popular drums. Warren G is a very good producer, and he's not bad on the mic either. What really shines through on this album though, ulitmately, are the beats. It's quite obvious that Warren has an ear for good samples - even when he's using a record that been sampled many times before, he picks an obscure part of the sample. Check "Do You See" and the way Juniors "Mama Used To Say" Is used.
For me personally, this is one of the last great hip hop LP's.
