This album doesn't really shine on a double LP. It sounds compressed (I can understand why, since the songs are so dense, the physical limitations with tracking must come into play), and you need to flip sides all the time, killing the flow of the continuous mix. Definitely prefer listening to this on digital.

Does anyone know if the outer jacket on this first printing has the same glossy paper as the reprint?

I can play it very loud (ok it's relevant). A lot of "music" here, so it's very difficult for a "stereo system" to cope with it. But every "instrument" has it's own space, the imaging is very good, almost pinpoint. It could benefit with tiny (just a tiny) more high frequencies, but not on all tracks, so I think they made overal an excellent work. The bass doesn't rubble at all it's very defined. Two things I cannot stand, rubble bass and fizzling highs. Good job Daddy Kev, NS and Record Industry.

This record certainly resists being played at high volumes, unfortunately. The dynamic range is really small - it sounds like a brick wall of sound with minimal separation between instruments, and the bass rumbles angrily and overpowers everything when turned up loud. It's a shame because it definitely doesn't do the spacy atmosphere of this album justice. I still think it's worth owning on vinyl if you get it cheap enough though, when played at more moderate volumes it sounds it sounds just as great as any album on vinyl would; the packaging / artwork is stellar, and quiter moments on the album like "Mmhmm" are mostly exempt from the loudness war issues

Probably the worst pressing I've ever purchased new on vinyl. Pretty disappointing surface noise. Really enjoy the album though.

Has anyone else got a version of this album with the same label number but as a gatefold? I think the gatefold may be the 2014 repress as it has different matrix runout but I can't find any information on the repress.

Don't know why so many Discog sellers are pricing this 2014 repress at GBP30-35 #rollseyes.
Pick it up at Juno, who are doing the decent thing, still retailing it at the original price, £15.75.

Warp Records: "Now that 'You're Dead!' has been out for a little over month, each of Flying Lotus' previous releases has now been repressed and are back in stock via Bleep.com - http://smarturl.it/flylo-bleep

Please anyone let us know if the "repressed" vinyl is actually a Repress. I would be surprised if Warp didn't.
