Absolutely phenomenal album. I never purchase metal records, and this is nearly exclusively due to the fact that every one that comes out sounds weak, high fidelity, and over-produced.
Death Metal in especial these days has nearly none of its original spine, gristle, blood; where thick, lo-fi recordings dense with background noise and sound as well as strange sounds to delight and terrify the listener once abounded we now hear stale and barely creative melodic nonsense or technical irritation more grating than nails on a chalkboard. This is none of that outrageous and ludicrous dead and beaten to largely orange juice levels of pulp horse.
Worm here has created a very slow paced death metal album in the vein of the old school death metal of Yore while still being menacingly melodic in short bursts in all the right sections of song. Personally I classify death metal into three different types: Mid-Tempo OSDM, High-Tempo Technical (Slam and Brutal also fit in here), and Slow-Tempo Death/Doom
And Cavern Death. This is a marvelous example of the burgeoning Cavern Death scene done extremely ionately, tastefully, and respectfully in the oldest styles.
You have gained my 100% appreciation, so far so in fact that I have purchased the most beautiful version of the album, a splendid blue/purple hue I was amazed was still available, and personally have taken to calling “Underground Lake”. The album is very thrilling and never once becomes droning, boring, or stale. This is difficult to achieve in a metal piece especially. Kudos to Worm. I hope to see many more great works from them! This will be the first metal album in my own collection behind the copy of “Sound of Perseverance” my girlfriend purchased me.
Very haunting, deeply ionate, slow, moving, and Cavernous.
10/10

A great album. Vinyl was flat, clean and quiet. The sound oozes with clarity but retains a great eerie underground atmosphere.
Taking influence from diSEMBOWELMENT, creepy synth sounds, slight black metal ambience. The kicker for me was the wonderful guitar leads and solos the seemed ripped straight from Death's Symbolic in an organic way. Highly recommend.
