"I'm So Free: The 1971 RCA Demos" is a cache of unrefined gems that would become some of the most iconic songs made in early 1970s New York. It provides a rare opportunity to hear these famous tracks in their purest form before the artist or his songs became recognizable to almost anyone. The demos are a window into Reed's artistic process, capturing his early career's raw energy and emotion. A must-listen for Reed fans and those interested in the 1970s New York. music and art scenes.

If you like the stripped down sound of the Cale Nico Reed Paris 1972 tapes...this is a revelation...totally different visions on some songs..some just like the unplugged version of the later actual releases. All of these versions will help you get totally into each and every song even more...words..music. perfect sound... luv Reed "bahpapapa"ing several times as note to himself where to place some "effects" on later recordings. Top Release!!

Would make sense if this gained a “proper” reissue alongside Lou’s first solo LP, which needs a proper remaster itself to make those tracks shine. That album (Lou Reed) does have a significant place in the history of Lou’s music - from VU to Transformer - and all of these recordings provide plenty examples of his talents transitioning from one to the other. Let’s hope RCA take note, and do the right thing.

Idiots taking it down scarcely days later, in the meantime theyre just letting piracy and illegal means of sharing flourish

I agree that the point of putting this out at the tail-end of 2021 and pulling it down is a pure copyright-extension move.

However, as this year -- 2022 -- marks the 50th anniversary of Transformer, there is the possibility that at least some of these recordings will be used in a 50th anniversary release of that album. I can't imagine that RCA would let the 50th anniversary of this album come and go without something to put out.

Obviously, this is pure speculation on my part, but it would certainly explain how this digital release was put out then retracted. I guess we'll see.

The sleeve looks a bit like Bob Dylan’s Another Side album. On a bootleg next week? :)

the intention was for you not to hear this but only to create an argument by the rights holder (not the artist and argument is yet to be tested) that copyright has been validly extended.

Hopefully RCA will see sense and release the album on record & CD. People would buy it and that includes me. Xmas eve is a bad time to release such an amazing item - we all had too much going on to know that this had come out.
