My copy has two of the side A/B LPs. If anyone happens to have a copy with two C/D LPs, get in touch!

Any collection with Sun Ra and Nolan Strong and the Diablos (replete with analog reverb turned up nice and boingy) is a must. The bio of the musicians, Sun Ra's in particular, is extremely well done.

U.K. people! This has finally landed at Juno records. Steep (£46!) but them’s the breaks I guess. Will it now appear at Honest Jons for a fraction of the price? Let us see...

Edited 3 years agoPretty good comp. Personally I find the packaging more impressive than the comp itself. And it is truly gorgeous packaging. I’m a bit surprised I’m the first to note the steep price… I’m used to Mississippi being pretty reasonable, can’t help wonder why this double LP costs the same as the 3LP Cairo comps. Maybe they’re just testing the waters… guess they were right cuz ofc I still bought it. I also prefer Phyllis Dillon & Alton Ellis's version of Love Letters... would've fit perfectly here. There are some killer moments though, like The Invitations’ “Written on the Wall.” Plug Tunin!

I have nothing to add to the other glowing comments here. I just wanted to say "Thank God for Mississippi Records".

Straight up great compilation. All aspects done to perfection. The music, the art, the liner notes and the thought that obviously went into it. Best description I can come up with is outer worldly or music from another dimension.

I agree with all the good things already said about this compilation. The music is superb and I’m grateful to those responsible for the care that went into curating these tunes and to making such impeccable packaging. Fantastic all around!

Edited 3 years agoThis may very well be one of the greatest records of all time. Every little detail is impeccable. The experience is like unearthing some lost tomb of cosmic sorcery. A true labor of love. This is how it's done!

Insanely good comp. The Richard Marks track alone is a jawdropping version. Droolworthy packaging too. Worth selling my kidney for.
