I know it's said that one should never judge a book by its cover but if I were to make a guess as to the content on this record, going purely on the cover, then I'd feel compelled to say that it looks as though very little thought has gone into it and it is probably lacking in any real inspiration. Going by the reviews here, it would appear that most DD fan(atic)s are pleased with this. Perhaps after the complete non event that was the "Astronaut" album, everything else seems like an improvement by comparison. I have to be honest and say that I've not heard the whole album (never mind the (3/5?) bonus tracks) but from what I have already heard, I find the word "turgid" coming to mind. For an interesting alternative, though, how about; sesquipedalian?!

Album is produced by Erol Alkan.
I'm loving it, great to have them back.
The new Tears For Fears single is class aswell and in a similar vein -
To these ears, easily the best DD album since "Duran Duran" aka "The Wedding Album" and quite possibly the most coherent since 1987's "Big Thing". Not bad for an aging band!
The formats, however, are an entirely different story. While most artists seem to do something special for vinyl, Duran cuts it down from 12, 15 or 16 tracks to 10. Embarrassingly poor effort, unfortunately. Even when these guys get the music right, something else goes wrong :) -
A disaster of formats - classic BMG practice - is this album 10, 12 , 15 or 16 tracks long across the various editions? Don't worry - there'll be another edition released in 9 months that'll make you feel cheated even further. The poor relation here currently is the vinyl edition with only 10 tracks.

Agree, great album, especially the first 4 and last 4 songs. It sucks though that they removed "nothing less" and "hammerhead" from the vinyl versions. Hoping for a double vinyl album with all the bonus tracks in the future. (just not at a 250 euro price point again please!)
