Edited 2 years agoSo The Chaser track on the mixed CD is Destination Unknown not Sides Of Iron, but on the LP comp. it is actually Sides Of Iron (I just listened to my copy right now). I never noticed. How did this happen?
There are a lot of missing tracks from the mixed CD on the LP comp. which I assume is due to rights issues, but in this case I am wondering if this might have happened simply because of a mistake. Maybe Laurent made the mistake himself when sending the track-listing for the mixed CD, which led React to request rights for Sides Of Iron from Soma to put on the LP comp. (and then got sent a master copy of that)?
I'm talking out of my ass here, and I am not from the music industry, so please correct me if I'm spouting nonsense or if you have more info. I wish I had noticed sooner (like 25+ years ago lol) so I could have gone to the DJ booth ask Laurent himself ;) -
I saw Garnier working this material out in a dark illegal space in the west side of Chicago in the summer of '96. 2 mind-blowing hours until the cops came and pulled the plug. Moonwalk, Help Me, Basemental. The guy could bring it.

I love this mix, only thing is I have no idea what the tune is on the end of mix 1. It says its Aux 88 on the listings but it is'nt the intro from Bytes 2 is played over it. I thought it was a E-Dancer tune because a mate used to have it but it isn't. If anyone could help that would be great. Message me.

Edited 18 years agoBrilliant mixes! Hard to say which is better- they are both fantastic and have stood up well over 10 (damn!) years.
My favorite is though is CD 1, especially the deeper than deep breakdown in the middle- the stretch from Braxton Holmes to 6K just floors me every time. Other great mixes are the Tyree and Teste tracks and the Bobby Konders/Acid Eiffel mix- stunning.
I when he would play these tracks at Wake Up at the Rex in Paris- the Bobby Konders, Essit Muzique, AJ Sound, Scan X and Shufflemaster tracks were staples (especially the last two, I almost never heard a set that year without them and they would destroy the crowd every time!)
By the way- the Chaser track is called "Destination Unknown", not "Sides of Iron".
