Had a bad copy and returned it and the exact same problems on first two tracks on the second copy. Too bad it is great music

I ended up with a perfect copy. An iconic album originally recorded on my birthdate. And this pressing is cut by my favorite vinyl engineer on the planet: Kevin Gray. Couldn't be happier.
-
Unfortunately yes. Another case of serious non-fill issues in the left channel on Side 1 (first two tracks).
-
Mine has lots of small nonfill issues. Ultrasonic cleaning hasn’t helped with this. Otherwise record is flat and sounds good. But the nonfill is pretty noticable.

Edited 8 months agoBlue note hits another homerun with this reissue. Dead quiet, great subs, mids and crisp highs.

I bought this when it was first released, no non-fill issues with my copy. In fact, it sounds incredible. Not only is the power of this recording apparent but also the way the musicians are listening to each other really focuses the tunes. Sonny Clarks piano is truly amazing and up front which when combined with Dexter's playing it doesn't get much better. The energy and drive are something to hear. Really a fantastic release. Must have in my opinion.

One of those albums you regularly see mentioned in audiophile forums / record collector groups. Definitely worth picking up a copy at this price - I can’t imagine it getting much better than this pressing.

Edited one year agoMine is perfect desert island quality. Note that so much of these issues. Are really shipping and storage.
Summer shipping in a master carton can kill records. For those pressed in who knows what they go through to get here.
Every new record needs to be deep cleaned as well. There are crazy industrial solvents and left over particles and dust from manufacturing. One has to invest in a good vac cleaner and ultrasonic cleaner to really get It all out. This is for all pressings. . Have had a bunch from quality pressings, rti and others plagued with dirt. It’s just what It is. I’ll clean every new record with enzyme cleaner scrubbing with a good brush then vac then rinse with distilled water vac again then ultrasonic then rinse again with distilled water and vac. Sometimes this does It perfectly. Other times It actually loosens up the deep Crap And the first play through with the micro ridge stylus pulls up a bunny on the needle And then it’s spotless. It’s just what we have to deal with.
