Damn... That's a Death Grips on a vinyl record. I was hyped but I didn't expect much. And as a result, I am pleasantly surprised. I honestly didn't expect such a juicy sound from experimental hip-hop on vinyl.

Edited 2 years agoSo I ordered this record brand new/sealed and I couldn’t help but laugh when I opened it. The record comes in a plastic sleeve and is literally covered in debris so you get some free scratches upon first removing it from the sleeve.
If that wasn’t enough for you, the record was already scratched to shit. Literally scratched and I’m not talking hairlines. I’m talking deep scratches that are 100% audible. The center hole is far too small so it doesn’t even fit on the spindle. If I was to resell this on here I’d probably be lying if I didn’t list it as G+
I’m honestly extremely disappointed. I can’t even play this record so I’m going to have to send it back. I’m going to try my luck and get a replacement sent out. I’ll update this review when the replacement arrives.
UPDATE: So I finally got around to getting a replacement. This copy looks noticeably better; it's still scuffed a lot, covered in debris (the inner sleeve is also full of it) and doesn't fit on the spindle properly but it's nothing a good wash won't fix. Maybe I just got unlucky, but judging by the comments here it seems to be the norm. -
ordered the 2022 rsd pressing but got this original pressing instead which I don't mind cause id take og rather than cool looking

Record came super dirty but I got it cleaned off and the sound quality is phenomenal. Super crisp throughout, except the first track, “get got” (this track however has a very muddy mix in general in my opinion). Something to note is that my copy said black and white split on the outer cellophane but the record is a 180g all black vinyl, and I’ve heard these had a lot of issues. All in all I’m very happy I snagged this up. Check your local record store before picking one up at these prices, I got mine for around $20.

Edited 4 years agoRecord came pretty scuffed, but probably just from being stored in another unlined paper sleeve (sigh).
However, the record is actually dead quiet and this shit bangs. There will be division on this, but I think this mix on this press is really solid. It feels properly tamed, it'll still blow out your speakers, but only if you really want it to. For all the crazy noises and effects happening, it comes through really clear. Not enough bass to shake your house, but definitely enough for me.
Not a bad way to experience Death Grips on vinyl. And lemme tell ya, get em while you can. Because their vinyl releases are only gonna get more scarce/go up in value. -
Most dirty record i ever got. full of small vinyl pieces. Outrun is different
