I just picked one of these up after reading the last comment. Can't fault the sound quality, superb really! The audio really jumps off the vinyl and there's almost no surface noise, I struggle to detect any crackle in between tracks. The purple coloration is subtle. If you hold it up to the light you'd be forgiven for thinking it's plain clear but when it's down on the deck the purple tint shows itself a little more.
Considering I was going to buy an old 80s copy of this on the cheap because a) there's no shortage of them out their in near mint condition and b) nobody has had a chance to fudge the mastering and the press (they used to do things properly in those days) this was an absolute steal at <AUD$27 from JBHiFi during Black Friday sales.
I can't compare it to an original because I've never had one but as far as contemporary reissues go this is a gem. I'd like to compare the cover to an original because I'm not sure if it's the best reproduction. Hard to say without a side-by-side comparison though. -
