I don't own an original 1998 pressing, so this is my favourite vinyl version till now. The 2017 reissue only beat this one in graphic quality. The drums here are great.

This pressing sounds nice. I compared it with recent 2020 relapse pressing, they sound the same, they're clear & quiet.

It would be great if some people would provide helpful reviews instead of bashing without any constructive comments. First repress of Death's final album. A very dynamic release. They have definitely used a high res master source for this press. Very loud, drums punchy and clear, Chuck's vocals are over the roof. They really messed up on the CD version bring very compressed, so unless you have 300$+ to spend on an original vinyl copy this is the one you are looking for. Moreover this has the original cover art unlike the one in the relapse reissues.

Mine sounds great - clear, full, and punchy - and is a favorite in my collection. As with anywhere else, it would be useful if the negative reviews were at least a little constructive, with specifics about what they hear, to help other fans decide which version to hunt down.

Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. I don't have the original vinyl version to compare but it sounds at least as good as the original CD, sounds far better on my system but the analog is $$$$ more than the digital setup.
Back on Black is a fine label after about 2007 or so when they switched companies responsible for their pressings. The pressings are always of very high quality... very quiet and with few defects in my experience. The actual mastering of an album can be hard to track down which is really the only complaint. But they tend to use high quality digital sources at the very least -
