Edited one year agoJim O'Rourke creates some of the most mesmerising, beautiful ambient electronic music around. After a night of banging techno I like to come home and tune into this and the 2018 release 'Sleep like It's Winter'. I listen at low level, sometimes at home on speakers, other times cocooned in headphones while wandering around the streets of an overcast London. When it rains, these recorded sounds delicately intermingle with the grey city around me, creating an atmosphere of sad, fragile beauty; a feeling of all things naturally fading from view. It is a mourning, but, a kind of gentle comfort also.
