Not that anyone was questioning whether John Lennon was the real deal or not, but Imagine proved that the depths of the man were profound and could be expressed in a way that he wasn't able to do when he was "co-writing" with Paul. Maybe a few were worried when his first couple of albums were strange sound collages that were pretty much albums for him and Yoko to enjoy and nobody else. So when he came out first with Plastic Ono Band, and then followed with Imagine... woo boy! The title track is still one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed. I truly believe that. Every other track is great too- some excellent and unforgettable, and some not as great but still catchy and served its place on the album. When I was getting into the Beatles, there were enough Paul songs that I found irritating, so "How Do You Sleep?" was a tonic for me, and the track that made me feel like I chose the right side (if you're the kind to have chosen a side in a rather silly tiff when you think back on it now).

I found inside my sleeve a black and white photo of John Lennon with a pig. Not sure if it originally came with the record, or if a previous owner placed it in there.
