In the literature for this VMP makes it sound like they recently found the master tapes and sent them off for a fresh remaster by Andy Pearce. He already remastered this in 2003 though. Seems unlikely they'd have Andy master it again in 2018 when there’s already a good digital file waiting in the vault. Guessing Trojan just sent hi-res files of the 2003 mastering and that’s what this is cut from. I could always be wrong though…

i can't fathom why everyone's trying to get rid of this absolute gem. At time of writing, Jan 7 2025, there are 82 copies up for sale many for really cheap prices. As someone with a huge reggae collection, this is up there in my top 50. It's an album chocker with great tunes. Collude people. Collude. El cheapos - put your prices up to the $50 mark. Incidentally I have an og, but it's got a bit of scuff driven noise near the end of side 2 which is annoying.

High quality reissue of an early 70's Lee Perry production, before he'd developed the legendary 'Black Ark Sound'. Wasn't expecting it to be in stereo. This pressing sounds quite good, the mix is punchy and robust with ample bass, and the vinyl plays very quiet and clean. The art print is a nice touch, but not sure what it has to do with the music, and the same goes for the 'vanilla sky' colored vinyl. Guess those are the bells and whistles that make it a unique VMP club edition. The music sounds great, and that's what counts. My copy was purchased secondhand but plays like new, with no surface noise of note.

Great reissue. Full package: Well done cover, Lyric Sheet, Art print, Solid mastering, Interesting Vinyl Color. About as good as reggae from this era can sound.

There is a mistake with the ‘July 2018’ released date on Discogs. The album ‘Silver Bullets’ was made ‘Essential Record of the Month for July 2018’, but was issued in June. According to the research I did online, the following three Trojan LPs were reissued by VINYL ME, PLEASE on June 21, 2018: ‘Silver Bullets’ (by Silvertones) (BMG-538389851), Action! (by Desmond Dekker & The Aces) (BMG-538389871) and Sweet & Dandy (by The Maytals) (BMG-538389891). The only LP I didn’t found a document that state the exact release date is Action!, but many evidences point in that direction, including the second link.

Sounds good, is well pressed BUT dont pay more than 30 quid or RRP because it doesnt sound any better than the arguably better pressed MOV releases. Ultimately its just not audiophile recording in nature but i cant imagine it could sound any better. Defo compared to a cd ive heard theres less harshness from this and the MOV release. Its nice to have a ltd edition version of this lesser known hidden gem but i will predominantly be playing my MOV black version instead

The bass really comes through nicely here and the other instruments are at a balanced volume. The guitar panned more left and drums center-right. Lee Perry’s production techniques are obviously apparent and appreciated. A magnificent sounding record. A well done job by VMP in putting this one together.
