I think this was voted best Dance track of '92, no need to explain that, it just has everything. Reminds me of when I had long hair, leather tros and boots. I mean, I still have boots, not the same ones, but owning an original of this does feel kind of blessed.

Edited 5 years agoFantastic tune and the ultimate blend of house, trance, Italian style piano and early underground hardcore. Heard it in many clubs back in the day but playing totally different styles of music.

Edited 9 years agoPlayed this track hundred times. The people loved this track massive. Everywhere.

Edited 14 years agoMaybe the best progressive house track of the 90s sounds great in a club but has been laced in a few poor remixes over the years naked mix still the best without doubt.

Equally anthemic and deep as any prog house track, ion was almost obligatory in every set at the time. As a DJ who used to avoid excessive pianos and vocals like the plague, I would dive straight to the B2 (naked) mix. Stripped down and effective, a great example of how a well produced track can work pretty much anywhere. I wasn't even aware of the main Darren Emerson mix until recently. I love early Underworld, so no surprises that it's an epic workout of a high standard, and probably my preferred mix now.

Edited 18 years agoI originally got this for the "Of your ion" mix which i prefer to the Naked mix, simply for the extra vocal - "of your ion - uh, uh, uh"! but when i heard the Emerson remix - wow, what a remix - i love it - sounds amazing on studio monitors!

Edited 19 years agoDarren Emerson's mix of Gat Decor's "ion" is the definitive mix in every sense of the word definitive. A 14 minute journey with almost strategically timed builds and breakdowns, it is a mix that makes everyone on the dancefloor feel a bit sexier...and makes trainspotters convulse with delight.
And believe it or not, according to dirty.org, this was his very first remix.
