Edited 2 years agoBeautiful live recording and outstanding pressing here. All the instruments blend well with great punch and definition. The star of this show is 22 yr old Marcus Miller all day long, his funky bass pokes right out.
This is in the bottom third of my Miles collection, but there's still so much to love. When he builds a band, he does it all the way. Can there be any more catchy earworm as "Jean-Pierre"? I think not. "Backseat Betty" is a definite highlight, as is "My Man's Gone Now". These are groove-based jams. Stern is on fire.
3.5 stars.
