I really dig this pressing. Instruments are nice and clear, low end is pronounced without being overwhelming. Great balance and great mix. My only complaint is that Phil's vocals do have a bit of simbilance, but it's very much bearable, though I'm pretty sure this is a problem on most copies of this album. I'm incredibly surprised the drum machines in Duchess are super clear.
As a fan of Genesis who found them only in the last few years, this version of the album is the one I got familiar with, with the live tracks on the 4th side. Those live tracks represent some of Genesis' greatest moments musically, for that reason alone I really would seek this version out. If you live outside of the UK but ever happen to visit, consider checking a record shop for one of these to skip on import/shipping fees, as they're very common over there. -
Besides the error that others have found - regarding the UK release (and later any Remastered re-release from 1994) where "One For The Vine" is split into two tracks, and "Fountain Of Salmacis" is combined with "It / Watcher Of The Skies" - I found it interesting that no one has mention the fact that "Fountain Of Salmacis" was not played during the 1980 Duke Tour - as it has been inaccurately stated on the releases themselves - but rather the 1978 ATTWT Tour. Kudos to "gonzalo76" for entering the more accurate information for the 1999 Japanese release. I'm tempted to buy this version just to see it in print accurately.
