Oct19. This band is at the top of its game when such quality songs don't make albums. These were recorded during sessions for Once More 'Round the Sun and Emperor of Sand.
First song, 'North Side Star' is a corker, with mid-song jam sessions - well that's what it feels like. I was about to write that 'Blue Walsh' is a bit slow and bland, and then it takes off about the 3 1/2 minute mark. I loved 'Toe to Toes' from the first time I heard it. A cool acoustic intro, then awesome soaring lyrics on rumbling drums. The different guitar parts are awesome - I can only think this did not fit the theme to miss being on Emperor of Sand; it is a very good song.
Last song and title track is a long, slow, brooding affair that did not do a lot for me, though the solo near end is worth the wait. 3.5/5
