Fantastic pressing for a fantastic record, crisp, loud, flat. Ultra HD for the Sleeve.
My favorite Iron Maiden album.

One of Iron Maiden’s best records. ‘Arry was going through dark mind tunnels, a divorce and the fear of loosing his band, his life. All of this resonates through the album. This pressing is superb.

Superb pressing. Top-notch. As for the music itself this is at the top of Maidens legacy. My 3 favorite Maiden albums are: Iron Maiden Self-Titled, Somewhere in Time, and The X-Factor. Each of those albums with a different singer, so obviously its about the music & lyrics for me. I have not listened completely to anything Maiden have put out since The X-Factor.

Edited one year agoIt's hard to imagine an Iron Maiden album that would be greeted by the public more odiously than The X Factor. In some ways, this album is underestimated and misunderstood, but it is magnificent and a masterpiece. You just need to look at it a little wider and approach it without expecting to hear something in the usual manner. This album is listened to very holistically and monolithic. Perhaps this is the only album that is listened to in one breath (by the release date). And yes, it is really very dark in its energy, a unique work. There are no high speeds and expression here, the tracks are like quasi-ballads, smoothly revealing the idea to the listener or like opening the veil of mystery. The album kind of demonstrates another side of the genius band's talent. Iron Maiden, which sounds on the other side of the mirror...
Separately, it is worth noting the contribution of Blaze Bayley. All this talk about who was the best vocalist of Iron Maiden over the past 40 years has been pretty tiring ... But let's be honest - Mr. Bayley has worked his parts so hard that it is simply impossible to imagine anyone else in his place. His vocals are completely different, but have a distinct personality and character, it is he who creates this melancholic mood to the tracks and the entire record. He brings the necessary variety when you choose an album for a special mindset in the extensive catalog of the band. Of course, this is not an album for every day, but every listening to it leaves a strong aftertaste.
This press from Parlophone is made perfectly. Just a top notch. By and large, this particular album does not have a long history of reissues, so it can only be compared with the first press. The album was originally very well recorded, so digital remastering did not have any particular impact on the final quality, rather it is the specifics of the vinyl production industry of recent years. The sound is natural, rich, deep and voluminous (real DR 10, but there is no "flat"). Excellent packaging and perfect printing quality - laminated gatefold made of thick paper, a huge folding booklet. Real heavy vinyls with impeccable playback quality - there is not a single defect in 71 minutes of sound (even in the quietest moments), they are just perfect. In my opinion, here is the maximum combination of components: a masterpiece album, perfect sound and the best quality of the edition that only exists these days. The best recommendations for fans of all genres. -
