Great new LP from Chrome - the best for years. Amazingly stands up well to their great late 70s output. Fans will not be disappointed!

Edited 8 years agoThere's also a limited(number unknown) press of transparent vinyl too. I did a quick review of Techromancy:
"I'm in love....What a beast of an album. Chrome have done a spectacular job on this one. Their 22nd(?!) Techromancy!
Great songs and flow with some sonic nods to their late-70s/early 80s material - particularly the industrial punk-Sabbath dirges from '3rd From The Sun' (1983), the groovin' and rhythmic alien Stooges disco-vibes of 'Red Exposure' (1980) and the twisted noises and tape loops of the mindbending 'Read Only Memory' (1979). Half Machine - half mutant acid-punk from a meat-eor that's headed straight for you!
Although Chrome embrace retro sounds on this album it feels like they're looking forward like a band with a fresh start in a way - it doesn't feel like they're slowing down at all which is surprising considering Helios Creed's age. I hope I'm making weird, energetic music at his ripeness! :-)
A little Damon Edge spirit creeps into a few songs which is nice. I like the Damon-era material too so it's great to hear it embellish the mood in some parts from beyond the grave. The current backing Andrew, Lux, Steve, Lou, Tommy, Costa and Aleph have done a fantastic job too - I would love to see the energy they put out live. Sadly I've never managed to see them. I missed out on seeing them by 5 days or so when I was in Los Angeles c.2015. Ah well....In A Dream right?
The packaging and foil/mirrored sleeve is such a nice visually literal take on the bands name too. Coupled with the clear LP it fits perfectly with the industrial space punk aesthetic. Lush android technology with a heavy human touch.
Great to have it in my collection among my other Chrome LPs.
