Very clean right out of the jacket. Didn't require any cleaning. No pops, crackles, hiss, fizz... Mix is little heavier in the mids to highs. Low is tight though. I'm not displeased with it.

The highs are heavy in the mix. Rings your ears a bit. But overall the sound is very rich, pretty spacey and layered. A double album as any Mastodon album should be. I also bought Crack the Skye recently: that’s a single lp and Sounds way more compressed and muddy at times.

Very good album, but the mix is pretty bad on this thing. Often the vocals are too quiet and hidden in the mix while the instrumentals are muddy and too loud, cymbals sound like shit sometimes but one good thing, most of the time lead guitar still sounds pretty sick.

Edited 6 years agoreally not liking the mixing of this pressing but after many spins i'm starting to understand why this is their best selling album.
the windchime/bell intro of the first song probably impresses me the most as well as brent's lead work.
but you know something went wrong when it sounds better on spewtube through tiny pissant speakers then it does on vinyl.
here's hoping the c.d will sound a lot better. -

Does anyone else feel that this pressing has crazy tinny highs? I A/B'd it with the cd and there is a noticsble difference. Specifically cymbals on track #2.. maybe i am crazy
-
Does anyone know if this album version comes with the digital ? Nothing on the hype sticker. Thanks!

Why do I feel like I'm gonna have to buy this record again? It feels like a lackluster release waiting for a special 180 colored release.
