David Bowie – ★ (Blackstar)

Great record, amazing music and sound. This pressing sounds fresh, big, bass heavy, and crispy.

Just bought a used copy at ameoba that they said had some wear. The sleeve has a little paper chip on the inner right side of the star. I always ask to look at all used copy’s so I can see for myself. It has some light scratches and scuffs so I decided if it was bad I’d return it for something else next week. Got home and played it and was saddened. Crackling like crazy and a couple other vinyls I bought a couple weeks earlier too. Well I had to find out if it was truly the scratches or dirt. I wetwashed it and put the needle on….silent! Oh my god I was so happy! I love this album so I was super bummed when it was playing with a fire in the background. If you had the same problem maybe washing it a couple times will help. Peace, love, and happy hunting!

My copy came with some static, pops and clicks (especially on side A). Still loved to listen to it though.

this version of the record is closest to the one in hand but with additional runout info. Anyone have any thoughts?

Wow, truly incredible sound. I am so impressed with both David Bowie and the pressing. I do not know whether to cry or laugh.

I must have gotten one of the better copies, I pre-ordered and received it on his birthday (and mine :-)

Pressing quality is virtually perfect, with only a few very small but noticeable ticks. Sound quality is spectacular, there is some depth and dimensionality to these beautiful, haunting pieces. The drums/percussion are so full, up front, crispy and solid. The saxes/flutes move in and out, side to side, continually evolving in the sound stage. David's vocals are so clear and heartfelt, with lyrics that can be very deep and insightful. Production is flawless, mastering is flawless. I just wish it was a little longer.

Great pressing! The sound stage is brilliant with a huge low end and zero surface noise. The design and booklet are awesome, but I wouldn't use the plastic cover as it's not good for the record and will damage your record if you keep it inside.

I bought this vinyl after seeing a review of it on YouTube. Obviously this is a “first pressing”, and since this album was recorded in analogue, the first pressing has a lot of value since the tapes will degrade over time.

The album is jazzy, psych sounding and the lyrics are honestly something else - only Bowie can write such stuff!

Ofcourse the sound is very good , as any (or most) first pressing of an all analogue recording - detailed, wide and rich!

Get it, even if you are not a Bowie fan

This is the best sounding Bowie album of all time, IMHO. Immense soundstage, phat bass and drums, with the atmospheric keyboards and lovely saxophone lines floating around the vocal, which is also huge sounding. Good flat pressing too.

I've been that 40y. I don't buy vinyls bc another ones do. I do that anyway. All should.
And if ppl are not fan of DB ... UH... why they even try to dare stole albums from to them whom really listen to those?

Hey... 180g vinyl is made to be plsaed. Not to be done it as a holy relic. My 1st vinyl was 7" JD's Cwremony 7" gold-covered single.
It was 27y ago very used and I listened it as long ago as yesterday last time. I had no rven a player at that point.

Those are made to be played.

Odd. If you dig him... you listen him... as good way.of quality as possible. So we who play instrumrents acting so differently.

I become a feeling bad thinking this community and many of their's attitude.
I don't enjoy to be here looking as some anf actually 100% too many buy albums only to get profitmoney (opportunistic ones)... three to ten same albums... insane.
